DEVLIN FARMER: Offering a Road Map to Resolution
Devlin Farmer has assisted hundreds of clients as a mediator and collaborative lawyer over his more than 20-year career. Devlin is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Western New England University School of Law where he teaches mediation. He is also the author of Representing Yourself in Court.
Devlin began his legal career with a public interest focus, managing a legal aid office in Fort St. John, British Columbia and then as the Coordinating Attorney for the Pro Bono Legal Project, in Malden, Massachusetts. He represented clients in bail hearings, child apprehension cases, custody battles, evictions, appeals, disability rights and poverty law cases. After his legal aid career, Devlin spent five years as the senior Staff Attorney at the Massachusetts Commission on Judicial Conduct.
In 2011, Devlin concentrated his practice on family law and in 2015 founded his own firm in Northampton, Massachusetts. He is dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve fair results without a court battle. He has played a leadership role in the legal community as a founding member of Western Massachusetts Dispute Resolution Professionals, as a Team Coordinator for the Family Resolutions Specialty Court (FRSC), and as a court appointed conciliator and mediator. He is a past President of the Massachusetts Council on Collaborative Law (MCLC) and a Board Member of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation.
In his spare time, Devlin enjoys biking (ask him about his gravel tours in British Columbia and along the Iron Curtain), surfing in Maui, and reading (he only slightly over orders books on Abe Books). You can find him at his son's gigs or at his daughter's soccer games. Also, he has had a surprising number of bear encounters.
